2013 Golf Tournament at Banff Springs Banff Springs Golf Resort Does Not Disappoint 65 Golfers braved a "cool" day on the world famous Banff Springs golf course to compete for bragging rights in the annual IDA Convention Golf Tournament. It was by far the warmest day of the week, thankfully. Glimpses of sunshine gave everyone hope that was quickly overtaken by harsh winds. Abundant birdies were not the only excitement on the course, sightings of Elk wandering the course were only to be outdone by the three Grizzly Bears that chose to visit a few of the golfers mid way through the round. In the end, 65 golfers started and 65 golfers finished, and the worst injuries were a few bruised egos over some missed putts, no bear maulings. I believe the winner of the day is the person that took the most pictures! Much appreciation is due to the sponsors of the day including the on course lunch from ITR America and Black Cat Blades as well as the beverages for the day from Montreal Tractor, North American Components Corp., and Sejin LLC. Everyone was well "fed and watered", although cold beverages were far outnumbered by hot beverages as the choice of the day (mmm, Baileys Irish Cream and Coffee, make mine a double)! The winning group, Clay Crystal, Michael Wilde, Chris Dienesch and Perry Gill scored a 63 to share the grand prize money donated by Valuepart and took home golf bags from Black Cat. Individual prize winners for the day were; Ajax Fasteners Long Drive #1 – Won by Michael Wilde Bulldog Hydraulics & Gaskets Long Drive #2 – Won by Cameron Hawtin Valley Blades Ltd. Closest to the Pin – Won by Chris Dienesch Valuepart Inc. Long Putt #1 – Won by Kent Clemens Woodbridge Equipment Parts Long Putt #2 – Won by Will Douglas The golfers all appreciated the generous donations to the registration bags from Black Cat Blades, Bulldog Hydraulics & Gaskets, Costex Tractor Parts, VALUEPART Inc. , Hercules Sealing Products and Valley Blades Ltd. Those donated golf balls will all be found next year to live another day in the incredible Canadian Rocky Mountains. Thanks again to everyone! Terry McKay Photos by Carrie Elsworth 35
