LiftMaster.com/accessradio1 PREVIEW! An important week for the fence, deck, railing and access control industry! March 4-8, 2014 are the dates for one of the most important industry events of the year: Fence Industry Week and FENCETECH2014. Fence Industry Week begins with a vast array of educational and certification programs, with the FENCETECH trade show beginning later in the week. The location will be the Mandalay Bay Resort and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Regarding the educational and certification curriculum, attendees can choose among many skills and interests. These include Certified Installer (CI), Automatic Gate Systems Designer (AGSD), Certified Fence Professional (CFP), Sales Training School (STS), and the Vinyl Manufacturer's Association (VMA) Deck and Railing University Boot Camp. The FENCETECH2014 trade show kicks off on Thursday, March 8 and runs through noon on Saturday, March 8. At right you will find the official schedule of events. Many of the seminars and presentations are presented in greater detail in the pages to follow. Registration is now open for Fence Industry Week and FENCETECH2014. Visit the web site at www.fencetech.com. For 2014, a few changes to the program structure have been made. More curriculum and certification opportunities are offered as part of Fence Industry Week. The AFA Chapter Breakfast on Thursday morning has a new format. Be there to show your chapter membership spirit and see which chapters take home awards. Immediately following is a presentation by well-known and respected industry professional Barry Willingham, vice-president of Barry Willingham marketing and product management at Ameristar Fence Products. He will speak about the current state of the industry and where it's headed. On Friday morning there is a block of training especially for architects, landscape architects and specialty contractors to earn a possible 2.5 learning unit (LU) credits. The session was developed in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). All seminar participants will receive a certificate of completion with corresponding CEU hours. The American Fence Association notes that all member companies in the United States must belong to a chapter and pay applicable dues. Companies located outside chapter territories should select the closest chapter to their region. Attendees may indicate on the FENCETECH registration form their wish to join AFA and pay their dues, and they will receive the member rate for the show. The headquarters hotel will be the Mandalay Bay, but there are two other host hotels. Attendees must make their own room reservations, and are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. The host hotels are: • Mandalay Bay, phone 877-6327800. Hotel link: fencetech.us/mandalaybay. • Luxor Las Vegas. (Connected by monorail to the convention center.) Phone 877-386-4658.
