If you are planning to attend FENCETECH this year in Las Vegas, please try to make it to one – or better yet, both – of the educational seminars that I will be presenting there. On Thursday, March 6, I will be speaking on "Setting Achievable Labor and Production Standards for the Shop, Yard and Crews" and on Fri- day, March 7, I will speak on how to "Create a Subcontractor Work Agree- ment Policy" that can both protect the company (and the subcontractor) and improve work quality and efficiencies in the field. Rewarding positive behavior benefits everyone I hope to see as many of you there in Las Vegas as possible! The DSP-13M is located in the control cabinet and the DSP-13S is placed in a single ¼" saw cut and positioned in the middle of the detec- tion area. According to the manufac- turer, the detection area ranges from 3' x 3' to 18' x 18' depending upon the DSP- 13M sensitiv- ity settings found on the front panel. The DSP- 13S durable epoxy encap- sulation al- lows it to be buried in the roadbed and sealed. To pro- tect the sensor, it is recom- mended that the sensor be placed 1 1 ⁄2" to 2 inches mini- mum below the driving surface. This will leave a protective space above the sensor for the loop sealant. When placing the sensor, the in- staller should keep in mind that the orientation of the sensor is not critical as it will detect a vehicle from any di- rection. The size of the DSP-13S is ¼" x ¾" x 1½". A consideration is always cost, the company noted, and the DSP-13 series saves installation time and therefore money, as it only requires a single cut from the edge of the roadway to the center of the detection area. The life of the roadway should in- crease as the saw cut may be posi- tioned down the middle of the lane, which would be out of the tire runs. The technology used in the DSP- 13 series incorporates 3-dimensional processing and a patented pending communication technique over a pair of wires, Diablo stated. He yelled down to Dave… "Hey! Look out for my ear! I just cut it off!" In a little bit Dave calls to John and holds up his hand. "Is this your ear?" John looks down and says,"Naw! Mine had a pencil behind it!" • • • At the police station, Bubba ex- plained to the police officer why his cousins shot him. "Well," Bubba began, "We wuz havin' a good time drinking, when my cousin Ray picked up his shotgun and said, 'Hey der, ya fellows wanna go hunting?'" "And then what happened?" the of- ficer interrupted. "From what I remember," Bubba said, "I stood up and said, 'Sure, I'm game.'"
