BOX 343 PERRY, OHIO 44081 SMA welcomes its newest board member, Henry Wallace, who goes by the nickname “Penny.” Henry Wallace: I would describe my educational path as non-traditional. After high school graduation in Charlotte, North Carolina, I went to St. Paul’s College, but after a semester away from home, I called it quits. I spent four years in the U.S. Army then returned to junior college in 1976 to complete my associate’s degree. I obtained my BA in 2005 from Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina. I am a certified arborist with the utility endorsement. I’ve been employed by Duke Energy Corporation for the last 32 years. I currently serve as a communication specialist for the Duke Energy right-of-way management team. Sometimes I affectionately refer to my position as that of a fireman, because I have the opportunity to deal with a lot of emotionally charged issues. The flip side to dealing with this emotional roller coaster is being in a position to help educate our customers. I enjoy just working with people and being able to listen and share views. Since my involvement in the green industry, I have man- aged to meet some great individuals like Jerri LaHaie. She and Bob Benjamin were instrumental in convincing me that I could make a contribution to this fine organi- zation. I am married and have three lovely daughters and six grandchildren. I did a 25-year stint as a Scoutmaster. Currently, I am active in my church choir and I serve as the chairman of the Concord, North Carolina Storm Water Advisory Committee.
