PRODUCTS & PACKAGING Averna, the Italian Amaro, recently announced a bottle redesign for the U.S. market – it’s first in near- ly two decades. The new bottle is leaner and taller, giving it a more contemporary feel, according to the company. The recipe for the Amaro, which is distilled from a blend of herbs, dried flowers, spices and licorice, remains the same. VADis now available from New Age Wine and Spirits, a micro-distillery from Sonoma County. The ultra- premium blend is distilled from American winter wheat and created in small-made batches. The bottle comes with a cap that serves as a shot glass, bar jigger, or shot glass rimmer. VAD is available in three varieties: vodka, synergy (which includes a flavorless infusion of caffeine, Guarana, and Ginseng) and Thrive (which includes a special infusion for health-conscious consumers. The 100-proof varieties are available for a retail price of $29.99. Chardonnay and merlot are the newest wines available from Emma Pearl. The Central Coast Californian company sources the Chardonnay (aro- mas of poached pears and caramel complimented by notes of lemon and cinnamon, according to the company) from Santa Barbara County and the Merlot (fresh cherry and raspberry fol- lowed by exotic spice and pomegranate, according to Emma Pearl) from Paso Robles. Both have a suggested retail price of $17.99 per bottle and are available in half-case packs.
