6 • APRIL 2014 • WORLD FENCE NEWS AFA reports successful FenceTech 2014 show under new management Dear World Fence News: FenceTech 2014 in Las Vegas was a huge success for the new American Fence Association management team. Overwhelming positive response from exhibitors and attendees was the high- light of the trade show. We had 302 exhibitors that in- cluded 70,000 square feet in total space. There truly was a "difference" in the show and it was all positive! The AFA booth was especially busy with the launch of the new Mem- ber Savings Program and the Give Back Program. The programs offer our member- ship substantial savings on purchases and credit card processing. The mem- bership dues will be returned three to four times over if members use the new Member Savings Program. The credit card processing Give Back Program donates a percentage to the AFA Education Foundation with every purchase that goes to worthy scholarships applicants in our industry attending colleges or trade schools. AFA also unveiled a new sponsor- ship opportunity program for FenceTech 2015 in Orlando. There was a steady line of inter- ested exhibitors signing up for spon- sorships and getting their booth space completed while at the show. This is a new program and our exhibitors had positive comments regarding it. Excitement was evident through- out the week, starting Monday, March 3 for the Fence Industry Week educa- tion sessions that continued until we closed the show with the NASCAR Neon Garage hospitality event on Sat- urday evening at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We had better attendance at the education seminars than we have seen in recent years, and this attendance carried over to the trade show floor. Chapter Breakfast speaker Barry Willingham with Ameristar Perimeter Security USA did a superb job chal- lenging all that were in attendance to do their part to educate and elevate our association and our industry. Barry's candid outlook on our responsibilities was in his theme, which provided a very personal touch. Total attendee numbers were not available at the time of this letter, but a complete detail will be provided in future magazine articles to provide the specifics regarding the show. FenceTech 2014 Las Vegas was one of the most humbling and exciting times of my life as the new executive director of the American Fence Asso- ciation. With exhibitors and attendees excited about the trade show, the in- dustry and our association, we are on the right path to success.
