50¬\¬¬!PRIL¬¬¬s¬¬WWWSPECIALTYCOFFEECOM C oee Fest returned to New York's Jacob Javits Center for its 2014 east coast show and experienced its rst exhibitor sell out since 2008. Attendance was up 14 percent over last year and exhibitors increased by 8 percent. Held March 7-9, the show featured competitions for Best Espresso, New Products (consumables and non-consumables), Best Coeehouse and Latte Art. AWARD WINNERS Coee Fest presents awards in two categories for new products featured in the Product Showcase: Consumable and Non-Consumable. For consumable, the winners included Sticky Toee Pudding for its bars (rst), Simpson & Vail for its dessert teas (second), and KIND for its healthy grain bars (third). e non-consumable winners are JOCO for its re- usable glasses (rst), 1st Line Equipment for its Intelligent Dosing Ring (second), and Pacic Bag for its PBIdeas single serve (third). e America's Best Coeehouse competition, sponsored by DaVinci Gourmet, oered winners the chance to compete in the ABC Grand Championship in Portland in October. Common Place Coeehouse came in second, while Mudhouse came in third. Cae Grumpy, the rst place winner, received $2,000 and the winner's trophy. In the Latte Art World Championship Open, Cabell Tice repeated as champion aer winning last year's event in New York. He also won in Seattle in 2013, and will now represent the U.S. in the global event at FABEX in Tokyo. Lee Kam Wo took second place in the New York event, while Junichi Yamaguchi took third. Finally, Coee Fest also featured the America's Best Espresso contest, an event that debuted last year. Ceremony Coee defended its 2013 championship against Flat Black Coee (second), Red House Roasters (third) and a number of other competitors. e Grand Championship, featuring the top three nishers from the 2013 and 2014 events, will be held in Portland this fall.
