"We believe in providing individualized customer service. We have built our business on understanding and responding to our customer's needs. We also understand that on time delivery is critical in running your business and our on time rates are among the best in the industry." - Rick Russell, CEO/President May is National Water Safety Month: What does this mean for your fencing business? COURTESY D&D TECHNOLOGIES The month of May is traditionally celebrated much like a holiday across America as the beginning of the sum- mer season. Many children begin summer break, families take their first dip in the backyard swimming pool, and va- cations long and short revolve around water. Unfortunately the month of May has historically signaled the beginning of a season of drowning tragedies across the United States. Whether it's the backyard or community pool, a local lake, mountain river, beach, or activity on the ocean, the danger of drowning is present whenever families spend time beside the water. More children under the age of 5 drown each year than motor vehicle, poisoning, firearm and falling accidents com- bined. D&D Technologies is proud to support May as "National Water Safety Month" in a collaborative effort across the country with the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) and other organizations in- volved in drowning prevention and aquatic safety. What does National Water Safety Month mean for the fencing industry? Above all—consumer awareness. Through NDPA's collaborative efforts, you will be seeing continued media re- lated focus on drowning prevention which includes these water and pool safety layers of protection: • Installing a four-sided fence around the pool that completely isolates the pool from the home or structure. • Using self- closing and self- latching gates, with products like D&D's Tru- Close ® self-clos- ing hinges and SureClose ® hydraulic closer and hinge. • Combine D&D's new Magna- Latch ® Series 3 child safety gate latch with SureClose or TruClose self-clos- ing hinges, and you have the ultimate self-closing and self-latching child safety gate. What can you do to promote NDPA and National Drowning Pre- vention month locally? • Make contact with your local fire department to be a part of their drown- ing prevention efforts to explain the benefits of isolation fencing. Make sure you leave attendees with literature or a way to follow up. • Consider targeting a neighbor- hood with a free pool safety checklist inspection and point out concerns on their property, as well as their neigh- bors'. • Take a moment and become a member of the NDPA. (Visit www.ndpa.org for information.) If you are working to prevent drowning, you need to be working with NDPA. For your low-cost membership, you will have access to unlimited re- sources, videos, water safety topic ex- perts, local chapters and tools to help you stay connected on most anything related to water safety. Remember, supporting drowning prevention efforts can increase your bottom line. What's good for your community is good for your business. D&D provides "A Blueprint for Pool Gate Safety," which includes a safety checklist that all pool owners need to consider to ensure their pool is safe at their home, and from uninvited children in their neighborhood. The brochure is available in packs of 25, complimentary to D&D cus- tomers, by calling 800-716-0888 or 714-677-1300 or e-mailing D&D at info@ddtechusa.com. MagnaLatch Series 3 Pool activities are tops in summer fam- ily fun. Unfortunately the month of May has historically signaled the beginning of a season of drowning tragedies across the U.S. National Water Safety Month is a collaborative effort across the country with the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) and other organizations involved in drowning pre- vention and aquatic safety.
