Square Feet of Project: 2,500 Contractor: Platinum Site Development Main Product Manufacturer: Unilock Project Designer: Jason Caldeira Project Description: The team at Platinum Site Development was tasked with creating a backyard oasis in Brooklyn, N.Y. with six adjoining backyards. At the homeowner's request, a hidden retreat created an environment equal to the most exclusive resorts. Platinum Site Development created a vignette-like atmosphere where every place on the property was used for an exclusive pur- pose: a formal dining area, a Tuscan-style pergola, a professional kitchen, full bar and custom wood-fired pizza oven. Honorable Mention Category: Concrete Paver - Residential - Less than 3,000 sf Project Title: Mountain Modern Project Location: Cedar Hills, Utah Square Feet of Project: 1,100 Contractor: Platinum Landscape, LLC Main Product Manufacturer: Belgard Project Designer: Platinum Landscape, LLC Project Description: This contemporary mountain home needed a matching landscape. The front walkway, designed as a series of terraces and seat walls, was placed with Belgard Urbana Pavers to match the Toscana colored Belgard retaining walls. CAST LED lights were inserted behind the steps and seat-wall caps to provide subtle lighting at night. The tiered planter boxes located around the property mirror the architecture of the home and complement the layered use of pavers. Honorable Mention Category: Concrete Paver - Residential - More than 3,000 sf Project Title: Hybrid Drive Project Location: Williamsburg, Va. Square Feet of Project: 5,000 Contractor: Mid Atlantic Enterprise, Inc. Main Product Manufacturer: Unilock Project Designer: Adam Heath & David Barglof Project Description: The clients wanted a new driveway that achieved three goals: create more usable space, solve runoff issues, and improve the property's aesthetics. To provide more space, a dual-entry driveway and motor court was designed to allow for a 50-foot turning radius in front of the home. A side drive in front of the garage provides ample room for parked vehicles. To handle the runoff, the driveway was designed as a hybrid system with permeable sections strategically placed and sized to handle run-on from 60,000 sf that included three half-acre lots and a road. The field high-end, eye-catching pavers were placed in four different directions. This included cobblestone pavers serving as contrasting borders and pavers resembling antique bricks placed in a 90 degree herringbone for the permeable sections. Excavation unearthed springs, creating drainage that couldn't be ignored. To address this, a drainage system — consisting of 280 feet of 15-inch perforated storm drains — was installed and encased in 1,000 tons of
