When we asked what the overall outlook was for the area fence market in 2011, Pat told us that the expecta- tion level was for an approximate 2% to 4% increase. Regarding the status of the labor market as to the availability of skilled and reliable workers, Pat told us there were a lot of “bodies” available as a re- sult of layoffs, but no one with experi- ence. We asked about the economy in the area, and we were told that it was picking up. And, Pat told us that, as for unem- ployment, people are waiting for some positive signs for positive change. People are only spending if they have to. There are a lot of foreclosures. Banks are tight with lending. Pat feels that will take another year to turn around. Finally, we asked him about the company strategy for 2011 and were told that the company is bidding on quick turnaround jobs that they can get in and get out in short order. Further, they are getting back to people within 24 hours after they check in at the web site. They are doing more local adver- tising, including in church bulletins and also on Facebook and other social media. That’s it for this month!
