82 • JULY 2014 • WORLD FENCE NEWS ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Subcon- tractors are routinely asked to sign contracts with complicated and risky language. A new video-on-demand from the Foundation of the American Subcontractors Association is helping them understand which provisions can cause the most risk and how to protect their businesses. In the on-demand video, "Navi- gating Contract Revisions," presenter Melissa Ogburn, Esq., Lasater & Mar- tin, Highlands Ranch, Colo., explains how subcontractors can reshape their subcontract agreement and how to ne- gotiate key contract terms with builders or property owners. "Navigating Contract Revisions" (Item #8070) is $65 for ASA members and $95 for nonmembers. This and other on-demand videos are available through FASA's Contractors' Knowl- edge Depot. FASA was established in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity to sup- port research, education and public awareness. Through its Contractors' Knowledge Network, FASA is com- mitted to forging and exploring the critical issues shaping subcontractors and specialty trade contractors in the construction industry. A window salesman phoned a cus- tomer. "Hello, Mr. Brown," said the sales rep. The customer replied, "But you said they'd pay for themselves in 12 months." • • • One morning a local highway de- partment crew reached their jobsite and realized they had forgotten all their shovels.
