48 KEY SPORTS HALFWAY THROUGH the major league baseball season, the Milwaukee Brewers are the surprise of the season, offensively and defensively showing they are again pennant contenders. After the best start in franchise history, the Brewers slowed their pace slightly in May, but turned up the heat in June to remain atop the National League Central Division. Centerfielder Carlos Gomez, catcher Jonathan Lucroy, third-baseman Aramis Ramirez and right- fielder Ryan Braun are leading the Brewers offense. Pitching has been far above expectations, with vet- erans and newcomers baffling hitters. Regardless of the weather, the retractable roof of Miller Park ensures that all Brewers home games are played. Attendance at Brewers games is high throughout the season with many sold-out games. Tickets are available at Be sure to check for choice seats or "sold-out" games. Free shuttles to games are available at the Milwaukee Brat House downtown, Jack's American Bistro on Brady Street and Milwaukee's original sports-themed restaurant, Saz's State House.
