68 • JULY 2011 • WORLD FENCE NEWS NDPA sponsors 10th anniversary National Drowning Prevention Symposium The National Drowning Preven- tion Alliance (NDPA) sponsored its 10th annual National Drowning Pre- vention Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colo. on April 14-15. Hosted by USA Swimming Foun- dation, the symposium took place at the Antlers Hilton. Following the con- clusion of the symposium, post-con- ference workshops were offered on Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17. The National Drowning Preven- tion Symposium showcases the best in drowning prevention programs, strate- gies, and products so that individuals and organizations from across the na- tion can work together to maximize their efforts to prevent injuries and deaths due to drowning. The theme of the 2011 Sympo- sium, “Uniting at the Peak To Save Lives: Moving Into the Next Decade of Drowning Prevention,” reflected the NDPA’s belief that it takes a unified team to make an impact in drowning and that a multi-faceted approach can truly make successful advancements. The goal of the conference was to empower attendees with knowledge and materials so they can replicate successful events and educational ac- tivities in their own communities.
