Sample France at Bastille Days BASTILLE DAYS celebrates its 30th anniversary and fills the East Town area surrounding Cathedral Square Park (corner of Wells and Jefferson Sts) on July 14-17. One of the nation’s largest French-themed celebrations, the free, four-day event features eclectic music; international marketplace; epicurean delights; roaming busker entertainment and street artists; chefs, cheese and wine demonstrations and a 43-foot Eiffel Tower. Bastille Days will send three couples to Paris, France; Paris Hotel, Las Vegas; or Paris, Wis. To enter, correctly answer three pre-selected questions about renowned French landmarks and East Town. Entry forms at www.BastilleDaysFestival.com must be submitted by 8 p.m. July 17 to the East Town Association, 770 N. Jefferson St., Milwaukee, WI 53202, or deliv- ered to the Bastille Days Info Booth. On Thursday, festgoers can join the first-ever French “toast” as 3,030 French toast sticks are distributed for all to raise a toast at 6:50 p.m. That night also boasts the annual M&I Storm the Bastille Run/Walk, with the 5K-run/2- mile walk at 9 p.m. Saturday features the Le Petit Déj (kids breakfast) at 10 a.m., plus kids’ con- tests and activity stations. Also on Saturday, fans gather for the “Pooch Parade” at 11:30 a.m. On Sunday, the popular Waiter/Waitress Race returns to Cathedral Square Park at 4 p.m. Festival hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Thursday - Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
