A Colorful Retreat Lindsay and Cory Schneider’s modern master bedroom A neat pile of sidewalk chalk sits outside the front door and an enviable swing set stands out back—signs that point to the buzz of activity that fi lls a young family’s days. But on the second fl oor of the Cottage Grove home Lindsay and Cory Schneider moved into four years ago (just months before buying their business, California Closets) is a quiet space of their own. And in their master bed- room, they used Lindsay’s design sense and Hanging rods and deep drawers more than doubled the storage capacity in the walk-in closet. “One of the best things in the closet are the drawers,” says Cory. “I think we got rid of four dressers because of them.” “We wanted a lot of hidden storage,” says Lindsay of the maple wall unit. “It’s not cute behind those doors, but you would never know!” Open shelving also offers space to showcase fragile decor out of the reach of little hands. For an old-world vibe, framed sheet music adds bursts of color that accent the stained glass of the wall unit. Cory’s strategic planning skills to create a calm space amidst the bustle of raising three children under the age of 5. Drenched in a deep color and rich fabrics, it’s a space where they’ve utilized storage solutions to their advantage. A stunning wall unit offers hidden storage and, thanks to stained glass panels, doubles as a piece of art while deep nightstands and an ultra- organized closet leave fl oor space clear.
