Wisconsin State Fair
celebrates 163 years
THE WISCONSIN STATE FAIR, presented by U.S.
Cellular, Thursday, July 31 –Sunday, Aug. 10, offers
11 days of fun on nearly 200 acres of activity.
The fair serves up 30 stages of free entertainment of
all kinds, while The Main Stage presented by
Potawatomi brings national headliners to the fair
(separate ticket for most shows).
This is the 90th anniversary of the Original Cream
Puffs at the fair. In addition to this famous fair sta-
ple, dozens of other food options abound. (Think
the most creative food-on-a-stick imaginable.)
Family fun includes the animal barns, youth
exhibits, interactive activities, Sky Glider, Kiddie
Kingdom, Giant Slide and SpinCity (the amusement
ride and game area). New features include the K-9
Sports Arena, Wisconsin Way thoroughfare and
Kohl's Activity Zone. Pigs, goats and ducks compete
at The Racing Animals Arena, while the air-condi-
tioned, 200,000 square-foot Expo Center and other
marketplaces satisfy the shop-a-holic.
General admission is $10/adults, $6/youth (ages 6-
11), $7/for those with disabilities, military/veterans
with ID and seniors (60 and older), and free for chil-
dren 5 and under. Hours are 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday-
Thursday and 8 a.m. until midnight Friday and
Saturday. On the final day, Aug. 10, the fair will
close at 10 p.m. Every day after 5 p.m., fairgoers
may be asked to show a valid ID with proof of age.
