NUTS & BOLTS continued from page 29 John Deere has upgraded three models on the G-Series excavator line. e models — 250G LC, 350G LC and 380G LC — are equipped with a powerful Final Tier IV engine and meet the strictest emissions standards, providing customers with higher produc- tivity, increased uptime, and lower daily operating costs, according to the manfacturer. "When developing the new G-Series Final Tier IV models, we wanted to maintain the excellent features that John Deere excavators were known for while still evolving the line to refl ect the needs and standards of the industry," said Mark Wall, excavator product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. "By adding an arsenal of new features, as well as design and functionality improvements, we were able to off er customers an excavator that increases performance and productivity, without compromising on sightlines and service access." e 250G LC features a 188 hp certifi ed Final Tier IV John Deere PowerTech PVS 6.8L engine. Both the 350G LC and 380G LC boast a rugged certifi ed Final Tier IV John Deere PowerTech PSS 9.0L engine with horsepower at 271 hp (350G LC) and 271 hp (380G LC). e improved Final Tier IV Technology enabled John Deere to maintain or reduce total fl uid consump- tion, helping to lower daily operating costs. Operators don't have to worry about diesel particulate fi lter (DPF) cleaning as it still occurs automatically with no impact to machine operation. Also, a er extensive testing, John Deere's DPF can go up to 15,000 hours before ash removal. Additionally, all models feature excellent total fl uid economy (diesel fuel and DEF). To increase uptime, John Deere designed the new G-Series models with a larger hood for improved engine access. For convenience, the nine-pin diagnostic connector was moved into the cab to reduce diagnostic testing time for technicians. Other improvements include a single side ground level fl uid fi lter service, which moves the engine oil, fuel, and hydraulic pilot oil fi lters to ground level on the right side of the machine and adds a service door for easy access to change fi lters. A grade reference ready option for the 350G LC is available from the factory, reducing installation time by half. Sensor mounting brackets are welded to the boom, arm, dogbone, counterweight, and mainframe at the factory, enabling immediate install of Topcon, Trimble, Leica or other grade reference systems. A programmable thumb attachment mode also is avail- able and enables operators to program oil fl ow for thumb John Deere Reveals 250G LC, 350G LC, 380G LC Final Tier IV Excavators attachments with the monitor. Customers will appreciate the new handrails as well. e handrails help maintain contact when climbing the upper structure to service the engine, improving service accessibility and security. e optional light package now includes a hood light to provide greater visibility to the engine compartment to easily see daily service points. e hood light is ideal for customers who work in dark or low light environments, or those who run multiple shi s and may need to conduct late night fuel and lube operations. ● www.constructionequipmentguide. com, July Nuts & Bolts continued on page 43 I DA U N I V E R S A L S e p te m b e r - O c to b e r 2 0 1 4 39
