Grafton's Paramount Blues Festival offers 'American roots music' PARAMOUNT Blues Festival Friday, Sept. 16- Saturday, Sept. 17, brings internationally known blues entertainers to Grafton, where blues music was first recorded nearly a century ago. This is the sixth year for the festival in the city just 20 miles north of Milwaukee. The Grafton Blues Association launched the event to honor the vil- lage's links to blues music and the musicians who recorded for the historic Paramount Records label. While the festival is held from 4:30-10 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday in Lime Kiln Park, Grafton's downtown is a "must visit" for its reflec- tion on the area's blues heritage, with a Walk of Fame, fountain and concert area. Along with the music, the event features artists and groups. There also are vendors and food and bever- age stands. Music lovers of all ages are invited to a FREE harmonica workshop led by the acclaimed Joe Filisko at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Register at www.graftonblues.org. You do not need to purchase a festival ticket for the workshop. It is open to the public. Friday only admission is $10 and available ONLY at the gate. A weekend ticket for Friday and Saturday admission is $20 (advance). Saturday admission (at the gate) is $25. Ticket ordering and information is at www.graftonblues.org Seating is general admission (first come first served) and audience members must bring their own chair. Limited chairs are avail- able for rent in advance at the website.
