8 Oil Prophets ASSOCIATE PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS Where Does the Time Go? Geoff Smith Chairman, P&CMA Associate Board It seems almost impossible that were in the final stretch of 2014. Time has a way of getting away from me. I don't know about you, but the older I get, the faster it is moving. It seems like only a few weeks ago, we were starting a new year. Starting a new year always brings promise, hope, and resolutions. When we started this year in the P&CMA it was my hope that the association would continue to prosper, serve its members, and improve. I believe this association has been successful in all three. It all started with the fantastic Winter Management Trip to Jamaica. If you have not participated in this trip, I urge you to in the future. It is a trip I look forward to each year. Many may say that we should rename the trip since "little" business is done. I take a different stand and say that this trip has helped businesses continue to be successful. It has helped me in my business mainly through building relationships….which I think is the key to any business. We then had a short two week break before heading to Biloxi for the Food & Fuel Expo. This show continues to be one of the best in the industry. I think it is great news that the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers has agreed to become partners in this event. I want to give special recognition to all those people from their respective states who worked hard to get this done. It is my hope that all three state associations work together and make this Expo the best in the industry. July was just around the corner and Sandestin was the location of our 2014 Summer Convention. I thought this year's convention was very successful. I cannot think of a better way to get away, learn from educational sessions, be inspired by great speakers, communicate with peers in the industry, and even take the family and enjoy a few days off. Please mark your calendar for next year's convention which will be at the Hilton Sandestin. And finally, a year would not be complete without participating in the fall outing. From eating great food to shooting clays or playing golf, this event is one you do not want to miss. More important is the fact that this is the main fundraiser for the PAC. Please continue to support your PAC. It is one of the most important jobs that your association does each year. I have been honored to serve as your associate board president and look forward to continuing service to this association in any way I can. Sincerely, Geoff Smith Chairman, P&CMA Associate Board
