In the May issue, Boating Industry will be profiling the Top Products of the Year. Those products selected by the editorial staff will be featured in the magazine and at BoatingIndustry.com. Winners will also re- ceive a logo and marketing materials to use in promoting their selection. Products will be judged on many factors including innovation, impact on the industry and how they advance their category – or create a new one. Products must have been introduced or significantly updated since January 1, 2014. To be considered for inclusion in the issue, we simply need the fol- lowing by February 27, 2015: A write-up of your product that tells us why it should be considered. Does it have unique features compared to other products in its category? What prob- lem is it designed to solve? HOT SPOTS Philadelphia, PA-Wilmington, DE-Trenton, NJ 9.8% Seattle-Tacoma, WA 15.9% Charlotte-Gastonia, NC 9.0% Sales of sterndrive boats ranging from 23 to 40 feet are growing faster than the entire segment. Manchester-Nashua-Concord, NH 30.4% Detroit, New Hampshire lead the way in sterndrives Larger fiberglass sterndrive boats are leading the way for the sterndrive segment, according to Tom Walworth of Statistical Surveys. These boats are between 23 to 40 feet and are growing faster than the entire segment. New Hampshire is seeing a surge within this segment, growing 30.35 percent as of December 2014, and Detroit is following closely behind at 27.35 percent. Many other regions are also see- ing significant growth. Some regions are still seeing declines, even in this popular range of sterndrive boats. Dallas-Fort Worth is down 9.63 percent YOY and Minneap- olis is close with an 8.24 percent decline. Miami- Fort Lauderdale is also down 5.98 percent.
