Maya Lin—the landscape artist whose first commission was
nothing less than the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial—was recently
honored in Washington, D.C. again as a recipient of the
Department of State–Medal of Arts. She, along with artists Xu
Bing, Mark Bradford, Sam Gilliam, Julie Mehretu, Pedro Reyes and
Kehinde Wiley, were recognized for their contributions to diplomacy
through the arts.
