WORLD FENCE NEWS • MARCH 2015 • 39 American Subcontractors Association annual convention on the horizon The annual convention of the American Subcontractors Association – SUBExcel 2015 – will be held March 26 - 29, 2015 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Wash. For hotel reservations call 877-901-6632 and identify yourself as a mem- ber of the "American Subcontractors Association 2015." Interested persons may register at www.asaonline.com. SUBExcel is the association's flagship exhibition, and attracts approx- imately 150 of the larger subcontractors in the United States, according to ASA. The event includes a wide variety of addresses, workshops, educational sessions and social activities Safetech Hardware reports excellent exposure for its TriLatch pool gate latch at FENCETECH 2015 LAKE FOREST, Calif. – Safetech Hardware's three-step TriLatch re- ceived excellent exposure at FENCE- TECH 2015, held Feb. 3-6 in Orlan- do, Fla., reported Audrius Macernis, Safetech's Research and Development Manager. "The event provided us with an excel- lent opportu- nity to meet new prospects and existing c u s t o m e r s involved in s p e c i f y i n g , d i s t r i b u t i n g and installing gate hardware and latching systems for private and public pools, playgrounds and other applications requiring access control," Macernis said. "As with previous events, attendees hailed from coun- tries that represent our major markets. It is for these and other good reasons that we are already looking forward to FENCETECH 2016 in Nashville." Macernis noted that "FENCE- TECH 2015 allowed Safetech Hard- ware reps to demonstrate the unique three-step TriLatch latching system which makes it virtually impossible for kids to access unsupervised or closed swimming areas. "For example, pool gate latch- es offered by other companies allow kids to gain access by simply bring- ing a chair or bench up to the gate. Even gates equipped with lights and buzzers are not foolproof because, as pointed out by our customers, these measures will not deter kids from get- ting in the pool if nobody is around to respond to lights and buzzers. The key point is pool safety when kids are by themselves." With its u n l a t c h i n g m e c h a n i s m activated from a regulation height no less than five feet off the ground, T r i - L a t c h - equipped pool gates require these unlatch- ing operations to be performed simultaneously: • Depressing a safety button in the middle of the elevated knob. • Holding the button down. • Raising the knob to disengage its magnetic latch. Together these features make the TriLatch system compliant with all international safety standards when properly installed, Macernis said.
