FENCETECH 2015 preliminary report Dear World Fence News: FENCETECH 2015, held Feb. 3-6 in Orlando, Fla., from all indica- tions was a huge success. Comments like "this is the way FENCETECH used to be" and "the best show in 5 years" were echoed by exhibitors. Many exhibitors mentioned new faces, new companies and new con- tacts that had never been to a FENCE- TECH, which is a refreshing change to these exhibitors. The 2015 sponsorship funding was used to market to the local area and promote better attendance at the show. The final numbers of attendance will not be available for a few weeks, but preliminary numbers indicate at- tendance just slightly behind FENCE- TECH 2014 in Las Vegas, which had a little less than 4,500 in attendance and was the best attendance numbers since 2008. As always, Orlando is the second best show venue at which FENCE- TECH is hosted and we are excited to gather and share these final numbers with our exhibitors and membership. As most could see, the show days were changed to support input from the exhibitors regarding the half-day Saturday shows being very slow and poorly attended. The move to a Wednesday eve- ning opening and night event proved a positive change and was well attend- ed. Input from the exhibitors was posi- tive, with recommendations that slight time changes are needed. AFA is listening and already planning the changes based on survey results input. Another new attribute to the show this year was the scanning of all at- tendees. These analytics will prove to be a valuable tool in supporting the AFA staff and exhibitors in knowing when attendees are on the show floor and who they are. This will prove valuable in plan- ning for future shows. This will be an ongoing process for the future for all FENCETECH shows. The data col- lected each year will build statistics to support better decision making op- portunities for show management and exhibitors. AFA staff requests that the exhib- itor surveys and attendee surveys be completed so improvements can be made for future FENCETECH events. Typically, surveys provide less than 10% returns and we hope the ex- hibitors and attendees alike will take the time to complete the surveys. This management team is asking for input and we are listening, but if we don't know, we can't act. Help us help you!
