HVAC/ HYDRONICS
Now the trick is to use a ¼" ball valve
instead of the usual ½" or ¾" size valve,
Figure 5, with reducers, Figure 6. By
doing that you limit, on a ½" system, the
flow to just 3gpm. That's easier on the
boiler and customer and greatly reduces
shocking a hot boiler with really cold
water in the winter. In addition, it makes
it a lot harder for anyone to overfill the
boiler quickly.
I know this is a short article, but this
really concludes these steam articles, I
think. I want to again thank Frank Wilsey
for his input on Part 2. We will be put-
ting all of these articles into a handout,
with a lot more pictures, that will be a
part of our Residential Steam School.
You can find out more about our classes
and schools on our Facebook page or on
our website.
See ya!

Fuel Oil News IS 80 yEarS OLd. Not too bad,
yet not all that exceptional given the run many of our
readers have enjoyed.
To help celebrate, we are looking for yOUr help. We
want to hear from you with your old images, stories,
anecdotes and articles from Fuel Oil News dating
back over the years. The older they are the better.
It's a perfect chance to share some of your history with
the industry. An opportunity to record some of your
milestones and perhaps some shared milestones for
posterity. Who knows, maybe there will be a few prizes
and awards given out when we wrap up the year.
We are looking to begin sharing the results with our
readership after heating season comes to an end.
However, please start collecting the material and let-
ting us know what you have available and want to
share as soon as possible. Space will be limited so
it will likely be first come, first served. And, as noted
earlier, the older the better.
