Lower oil prices offer the opportunity to
recapture distillate fuel oil customers lost to
natural gas and propane. It's time to review
sales strategies that may have been priced
out of the market by high wholesale and
even higher retail prices. What happened?
Growing supplies of North American crude
have changed the global petroleum balance
in many ways. Some of the changes have
been unexpected. And many have been to
the advantage of downstream oil dealers and
participants. Not all dealers have handled
the changes as well as they might have and
this has led to new challenges for the indus-
try We'll talk about how growth minded
operators are rethinking customer programs
to compete and grow their business.
While oil prices have fallen, natural
gas is facing challenges that may erode its
low commodity price. Interstate pipeline
capacity is constrained, electric utilities
are switching to natural gas driving up
demand, methane leakage is being recog-
nized both for the environmental impact it
is having as well as the fact that consumers
are paying for "lost and unaccounted for"
gas. Additionally, new pipelines are facing
significant opposition adding uncertainty
and cost. Come and hear how the land-
scape is changing to the benefit of Oilheat
Retailers!

Distillate Values Impact on Bioheat
Gene Gebolys, President, World Energy
There is no denying that public pressure and
consumer demand for a cleaner, less carbon
intensive, more efficient home heating fuel
is on the rise. Even longtime heating oil cus-
tomers, though thrilled with what they're
paying, aren't necessarily thrilled with what
they're burning. So what are you doing today
to ensure your customer's going to be your
customers tomorrow? If oil bounces back
to $100 a barrel next season, what's to keep
them from converting to natural gas?
3:45 p.m.-4:45 p.m.—What is a
Budget and Why Do I Need One For My
Business?
Joe Vassallo, Oilheat Associates, Inc.

whole year in advance? This presentation
gives a broad overview of the budgeting
process and why it is critical for any busi-
ness regardless of size to have one.
We will address the most asked ques-
tions regarding establishing a workable
budget including: What information will
I need and how do I get it? What are the
controllable expenses? How do I set my
revenue goals? What is a baseline budget?
How many gallons and how much service
work do we expect to do? How much staff
