PRODUCTS & PACKAGING Diageo has launched a limited-edition line extension to the venerable Johnnie Walker brand with Johnnie Walker Double Black Scotch. The new expression accents the smoky charac- teristic of Johnnie Walker Black Label, imparting additional richness and intensity of flavor. Double Black is made by blending select single malts from reserves that include naturally smoky aged whiskies and those matured in deep charred oak barrels, the com- pany says. Double Black has a suggested retail price of $40 for a 750 ml bottle. Cupcake Vineyards has debuted a new wine: 2009 Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet, a blend of Zinfandel (47%), Merlot (29%), Cabernet Sauvignon (19%) and Petite Sirah (3%), from a variety of California viticultural areas. The wine features aromas of blackberries and red fruit, which follow through with additional flavors of chocolate and mocha. Owned by The Wine Group, Cupcake Vineyards' Red Velvet is available nationally at a suggested retail price of $13.99 for a 750 ml bottle. Canadian Club 6 Year Old has produced 100,000 bottles featuring "Boardwalk Empire" — branded neckers, which include "Boardwalk Empire" — logoed flasks. The bottles will be available nationwide as long as supplies last. The brand has now introduced a line extension, New Amsterdam Vodka, an 80 proof spirit, which is distilled five times and filtered three times, the company says. Suggested retail price is $14.99 for a 750 ml bottle. TUACA Liqueur has debuted a newly designed, limited-edition package featuring a unique ther- mochromatic ink printed on the bottle to showcase the perfect "chilled" serving temperature. The label, featur- ing a sketch of the historic TUACA Lion, was designed by celebrity tattoo artist Corey Miller. The tattooed lion turns from silver to blue as the bottle is chilled in a freezer or on ice. Heaven Hill Distilleries has released its fifth annual edition of the Parker Heritage Collection American Whiskey Series with its 10 Year Old Cognac Finished Bourbon, which is the first wood-finished bourbon pro- duced by Heaven Hill. The new expression is bottled at 100 proof and is not chill-filtered prior to bottling. It will be available national- ly (in limited quantities) at a suggested retail price of $80 for a 750 ml bottle. Heaven Hill also introduced another flavored vodka to its Burnett's portfolio of vodkas, with Burnett's Hot Cinnamon, which is the 25th flavor in the line. The Hot Cinnamon launch is being supported by a variety of in-store POS materials as well as sales education materials. It is 70 proof with a suggested retail price of $9.99 for a 750 ml bottle.
