She is not the only woman whose life has changed; there are several other won- derful stories of strong women whose lives have changed dramatically. Lyva, shares the story of Senora Sabina, an- other president of a small organization. A single mother, Sabina has been able to increase her coffee production to not only make improvements on her home but also fully fund her three children's education. "I feel very passionate about telling my story and I'm so proud to represent the farmers that I represent," said Lyva. "I'm so passionate about telling and in- fluencing and just trying to persuade other people to love coffee the way I do." Lyva is not intimidated by change and challenge; in fact she embraces it. Modest about her impact, Lyva proudly describes how a community of women came to- gether to change the plights of the past, cultivating the spirit and energy and drive that will continue to improve both Lyva's family and the lives of many other coffee farmers. Twenty percent of CECANOR's members are women, one of whom sits on Peru's National Coffee Board.
