Fake Industries, Architectural Agonism leaves invention to
others. "The world is full of architecture, more or less interesting; we
do not wish to add any more," says the Brooklyn, New York-based
studio. "The last 400 years of architectural excess produced enough
undiscovered public architectural knowledge to nurture, to explore all
the potential left unexplored." Of all six Guggenheim Helsinki finalists,
this submission mines the past most overtly, by saving Makasiini
Terminal. A new gallery hovering above the reused facility would have
a sawtooth roof clearly inspired by historic waterfront vernacular.
