Here is just a sampling for summer 2015: Expedition Dinosaur the special outdoor exhibit at the Milwaukee County Zoo intrigues visitors May 23-Sept. 7 with moving, robotic, life-sized dinosaur models. Van Gogh to Pollock: Modern Rebels Masterworks from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, on display June 18-Sept. 20 at the Milwaukee Art Museum, presents works by the biggest names in art from late 19th century to the present. See and hear Summerfest, the world's largest music festival, now in its 48th year. For 11 days, more than 800 bands play across the 11 stages, June 24-28 and June 30- July 5. (Summerfest takes Monday, June 29, off). For 2015, there's a pre-festival concert kick-off June 23 with the Rolling Stones. The 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series returns to the historic Milwaukee Mile this summer, July 11- 12. The Milwaukee Mile is the oldest continuously operating auto racing facility in the world. Lakefront ethnic festivals at Henry Maier Festival Park (Summerfest grounds) celebrate the heritage of Milwaukee residents who emigrated here from Poland, Italy, Germany, Ireland and Mexico. The ethnic celebrations end with Indian Summer Festival. Bradford Beach, a stroll away from downtown, features great food options, family activities, live music series and volleyball leagues and tournaments.
