YEAR, Polish Fest
launches Milwau-
kee's outstanding
series of lakefront
ethnic fests at Maier
Festival Park (Sum-
merfest grounds) on
Lake Michigan.
Recognized as the
largest celebration of
Polish culture in the
U.S., the three-day
festival, June 12-14,
features food, music,
dance and more with
five stages of enter-
tainment. Hours are
noon-midnight Friday
and Saturday and
noon-8pm Sunday.
At 10:30pm on
Saturday, the "Big
Boomski" presented
by Planners Financial
Group, LLC, brings
fabulous fireworks to
the lakefront.
Non-stop music
Participation is the
name of the game at
the Non-Stop Polka
stage, with groups
like The Knewz from
New York, the Polka
Country Musicians
from Connecticut
and The Polka Fam
-
ily Band from Penn-
sylvania.
Top-notch per-
formers at the Miller
Contemporary Stage
include 18-time
Grammy winner Jim-
my Sturr & Orchestra
and 76 Juliet. Hailing
from Canada are D/
Vision and John Gora
& Gorale.
Wowing crowds at
the Chopin Vodka
Cultural Stage are
the Syrena Polish
Folk Dance En-
semble and Polonez
Song & Dance
Ensemble. Also fir-
ing up the audience
are contemporary
groups Maggie D
Grupa and the Hap-
py Singers Band.
The Children's
Stage keeps young-
sters busy with acts
like Magician David
Seebach, Jim Krzews-
ki (the Spoon Man),
Julie Sobanski, Prin-
cess of Magic and
Wayne & Wingnut.
