This well attended work- shop featured leading manufacturer Linear Corporation and was conducted by Linear technical trainer Paul Jones and district sales manager Chuck Van- Sickle. Jones presented to over 30 Encon dealers and began with an overview of Linear's radio products, including the Megacode AP-5 receiver and the MDKP wireless keypad. "The MDKP is a wireless keypad that allows you to program and store codes. When replacing the 9V battery, you won't need to reprogram the key- pad because of its storage feature. The AP-5 goes one step further because it gives you the capability to suspend codes," he said. After briefly explaining block- coded versus custom block-coded transmitters, Jones introduced one of their new products – Transprox. "Transprox is both a transmitter and a proximity card. He detailed when to use the AK11 versus the AK-21 and AK-31 keypads. He also provided valuable tips for troubleshooting keypads. "When the keypad chirps, this is an indication that there is a voltage problem." Cameron Fortin of C&R Fence in Stockton, Calif. found the keypad por- tion to be the best part of the seminar.
