62 • JANUARY 2012 • WORLD FENCE NEWS The North American Fence Con- tractors Association (NAFCA) held its first NAFCA Fence School October 21-23, 2011 in Delta, Colo. Fifteen students from as far away as Maine and Florida participated along with a team of instructors, lead by master in- structor Fred Venette, who was assist- ing in his 30th installation school. The students installed 1,300 lineal feet of five-foot high chain link and 275 lineal feet of industrial grade Alumi-Guard aluminum fence for a leash-free dog park in the City of Delta. Other topics taught were agricultural fence, vinyl fence, and wood and chain link gate construction. The instructors were Venette, Vir- gil Thomas, Sammy Franklin, Mark Knudson, Bill Iams, Don Roche, Deb- bie Roche, Mart Prost, Ray Statz, John Randall, Tony Tonak and Sean Rus- sell. Judy Iams and Marge Knudson also contributed to the school by serv- ing meals for the students and instruc- tors. Meal donations were made by Tymetal Corp., Log Cabin Fence, Modern Fence Technologies and American Made Vinyl Extrusions. Chapman noted that NAFCA has several upcoming events for 2012. A donated fence will be installed at Ar- lington National Cemetery on April 19-21, 2012. Anyone who would like to participate is encouraged to do so. There also will be two Fence Schools scheduled in 2012. One school will be on fence installation and the other will be a gate operator school. The dates for the schools will be set at the NAFCA annual meeting in Athens, Ga. on January 5-6, 2012. The first NAFCA Fence Show will also be scheduled at that time.
