50 • JULY 2015 • WORLD FENCE NEWS SAN ANTONIO, Tex. — DoorKing and Nice Group USA spon- sored a joint technical session for area access control professionals on May 27 as one of the stops on their Tour 2015 nationwide independent dealer support campaign. The session was held at the branch offi ce of wholesaler Southwest Auto- mated Security. Leading off for the morning seg- ment was Rick Sedivy, DoorKing's director of marketing and regulatory affairs, who welcomed the sizeable crowd and introduced Lamar Jackson, the company's Western Region sales manager. Southwest Automated Security hosts DoorKing, Nice Group USA Tour 2015 San Antonio stop Jackson detailed the following topics: • DoorKing's new cellular inter- face for telephone entry systems. The system operates on the AT&T 4G LTE network and allows both voice and data communication. This allows the installer a very easy and simple method to connect the telephone entry system without the need to run phone lines, ethernet cables or other wiring, he said. The wireless expansion boards eliminate the need for trenching from one ac- cess point to the next, or back to the controller. This is a huge labor and time sav- ing product and installers love them because of the simplicity of installa- tion, Jackson noted. • Maximum security slide gate operators for airports, seaports, mili- tary, government, power plants, etc. These operators are designed for use in applications where perimeter security must be maintained, and in applications using extremely large and heavy gates (up to 20,000 lbs.). At the completion of the DoorKing segment, Southwest Auto- mated Security co-owners Jeff Good- win and Steve Shain invited the group to dig in to a Mexican food buffet the companies provided. Following lunch, Nice Group USA president and CEO Davide Pes- ca explained the philosophy behind the Tour 2015 campaign sponsored by the two manufacturers. "Our independent distributors are excited about the Tour and are hap- py to see this different format being made available to them. It also shows our continued support of independent distribution in our industry," noted Pesca. He then introduced David Hoel, Nice Group USA marketing director, who explained the many features of the company's O-View electronic pro- grammer. Hoel also explained the compa- ny's new 24V DC line, which includes barriers (M&L Bar) capable of lengths from 10 ft. to 30 ft., commercial DC slide and swing operators (8500 and 4500), new residential DC operator (1724 and 1824), along with control board training (1050 board), and solar training. Hoel also gave a "sneak peek" of some new products not yet released. At the completion of the San An- tonio stop, the next Tour stop was the following day in Houston, and a num- ber of additional sessions are planned in different cities in the near future.
