Imagery Takes Analysis Platform at the scene of a massive tragedy. Nowhere is this "need for speed" more evident than when govern- ments must respond to life-threatening crisis events. The industry now regularly delivers images within min- utes to hours of when they're collected, via a variety of Web-enabled services. —This is clearly an emerging era and becoming a top priority, with insight derived from imagery becoming more important than the pixels them- selves. More often than not, the commercial satellite industry can provide more than just "eyes in the sky" by offering analysis, such as calculating the amount of oil in storage tanks instead of just providing a picture. Looking Beyond to Cloud Services Commercial satellite-imaging companies always are look- ing ahead and working to define "what customers need next." They're already giving thought to what the fifth and sixth eras might look like.
