Networking News Local women and businesses on the move On Dec. 2, Fabu Phillis Carter gave her fi nal reading as Madison's poet laureate, a post she's held for the past four years. Mayor Paul Soglin is expected to announce the city's new poet laureate this month. Summit Credit Union was among 32 organizations from across the world to receive an American Society for Training & Development's BEST Award. Tracy Nelson, vice president of learning and organizational development, and Kimberly Frederickson, assistant vice president of learning and development, (above) received the award on Summit's behalf during a reception held in Washington, D.C. Area dance teachers Jo Jean Kehl Janus and Mary Katic were among several dance instructors state- wide inducted into the new Hall of Fame created by Dance Masters of Wisconsin, an organization providing training and networking opportunities for dance instructors throughout the state. Dr. Angela Byars- Winston (left) a researcher with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health was recently honored at the White House as one of 12 Champions of Change. Byars-Winston was honored for her efforts to enhance job opportunities for young girls, women and minorities in science, technology, engineering and math fi elds. Dawn Ripkey has been promoted to vice president and Southwest Wisconsin regional personal trust manager for M&I Wealth Management. Previously a vice president and trust administrator, Ripkey will now oversee the delivery of trust and estate settlement services in the Lake Geneva, Janesville, Beloit and Madison markets. Two New Beauty Businesses Open Their Doors The Rejuvenation Clinic of Sauk Prairie recently opened for business in Prairie du Sac under the ownership of Michelle Niesen, the clinic's primary clinician. The clinic offers minimally-invasive, non-surgical facial and body skin enhancements. Meanwhile, Joni Phillipps, formerly a stylist at Onusara Salon, has opened SoJoni Hair Studio, in Middleton.
