Welcome...
Summer is in full swing in Milwaukee County this
month! At the Summerfest grounds, Milwaukee Irish
Fest and Mexican Fiesta provide two great weekends of
culture and music. In West Allis, our Wisconsin State Fair
again offers great entertainment and every fried delicacy
you can imagine, along with classic cream puffs.
Our Milwaukee County Zoo celebrates summer this
month with Milwaukee Journal Sentinel a La Carte and
our beautiful lakefront again is the site for the USA
Triathlon Championships.
Wherever you're headed, KEY Milwaukee is a valuable
resource for exploring the many activities available. As
always, we hope you enjoy your time in Milwaukee
County.
Chris Abele, Milwaukee County Executive
Surprise! Milwaukee is a gem of a destination.
The beauty, the events and the natural advantages
of our community astonish some of our visitors.
They arrive with few expectations and depart
with an appreciation of all Milwaukee offers.
Throughout our history, Milwaukee's identity
has been closely tied to our freshwater assets.
Lake Michigan and our rivers have always
been important for both commerce and
recreation. Water-related industry and waterborne
transportation are important parts of the economy.
Our lakefront parks and festival grounds draw
millions of people; our riverwalk, the trails and
bikeways along our rivers, and even our urban
fishing add to Milwaukee's character.
Our museums, ethnic celebrations and profes-
sional sports teams are all important facets of life
in Milwaukee. And our neighborhoods are loaded
with charm.
Our city has a lot to offer. That's no surprise to
residents, and more and more visitors are discover-
ing Milwaukee's appeal.
