See Our Vision for Positive Change AOIsustainability.com ACTION-ORIENTED SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACTION-ORIENTED SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Lean management of equipment Good tools are a prerequisite to the successful execution of any job. Promotion of sus- tainable and healthy development of tobacco machinery manufacturing enterprises and sound management of production equipment can definitely play the role of such "good tools" to assist in a successful execution of its jobs. In November 2013, CTMG held a meeting on production equipment management by the tobacco industry, where it stated that lean management of equipment, as well as making full-scale planning for lean management of production equipment will be a cen- tral tenet of the tobacco industry. CTMG also launched four exclusive research projects on production equipment management by the tobacco industry: Management of Outstanding Performance in Cigarette Factory Equipment, Repair and Maintenance of Equipment Oriented Toward Cigarette Product Qual- ity, Monitoring of the Status of Cigarette Factory Equipment, and Healthy Management of Cigarette Factory Equipment. These projects were the start of research in equipment management methodology by the tobacco industry. "In recent years, CTMG developed technological cooperation with various domestic and foreign partners" The importance of parts and components to equipment goes without saying. In an effort to ensure the speed and efficiency of response to demand for supplying parts and components of tobacco machinery, China Tobacco International and China Tobacco Machinery Parts and Components Procurement Service Center held negotiations with Hauni Maschinenbau AG of Germany and G.D of Italy on bonded consignment sales of tobacco machinery parts and components and signed an agreement on cooperation in tobacco machinery parts and components marketing service, enabling cigarette manu- facturers to implement a unified supply chain in importing exclusive tobacco machinery parts and components under the model of bonded consignment sales as of January 2014. CTMG has also started the process of upgrading and transforming the tobacco ma- chinery parts and components trade monitoring network, and has completed the con- struction of the information management system in heavy repair, itemized repair, and transformation of tobacco machinery. Promotion of human resources development CTMG and all its affiliated enterprises strengthend both vocational training and edu- cation with records of formal schooling in the last several years, in light of the work concerned and the characteristics of the relevant jobs. As a result, the overall quality of the human resources within the tobacco machinery manufacturing sector continue to improve rather quickly. CTMG has cooperated with Hunan University in holding a high-grade training class for technicians, enhancing their capacity for innovation and broadening their vision of research and development. The company also fully promoted the construction of vocational training bases for the tobacco industry. In July 2013, it held the fourth tobacco machinery repair skills contest at Changde Tobacco Machinery, and a symposium on the ZJ112 unit, establish- ing a platform for cooperation between tobacco machinery manufacturers and cigarette manufacturers. In the second-term qualification training for tobacco machinery repair technicians, Changde Tobacco Machinery undertook the work of improving their cigarette-making skills prior to accreditation and was designated as an institution for accreditation in the operation of pilot projects concerned. It has since made substantial progress in establish- ing vocational training bases for the tobacco industry. China Tobacco Machinery Group also formulated and issued the Handbook on the Assessment of Qualification for Professional Technologies and completed the recommendation of candidates for professional qualification of the engineering series for 2013, unclogging the channel for promotion of highly-skilled technologically advanced employees. All these measures are sure to improve the quality of the ever-developing tobacco industry in China.
