Presently, there are four cigar makers in China: China Tobacco Chuanyu Industrial (Chuanyu TIC) in southwest China; China Tobacco Hubei Indus- trial (CTHIC); China Tobacco Anhui Industrial (CTAIC); and China Tobacco Shandong Industrial Co., Ltd. (CTSIC). Chuanyu TIC – largest cigar production base in Asia Over recent years, Chuanyu TIC actively followed a roadmap for develop- ing cigar products, achieving initial success. Firstly, the company unveiled an ambitious strategic target of "building the No. 1 Chinese cigar manufacturing base, developing the No. 1 Chinese cigar brand", and formulated a plan for medium- and long-term development. On April 27, 2011, the relocation and technological transformation of the Great Wall Cigar Factory of Chuanyu TIC was completed. With a total area of 455 mu (33 hectares) and a designed annual production capacity of over 5 bil- lion, the new factory has emerged as the largest cigar factory in Asia. It is also the only cigar manufacturer in China capable of producing cigars in whole series – from hand-made, high-grade cigars to machine-made, medium-grade cigars. In accordance with its guideline of "starting with the development of medium-grade products and making breakthroughs in the development of high-grade products", the Great Wall Cigar Factory conducted research and development of new products at a high starting point, forming a whole speci- fication product series led by Great Wall 132 Special. The annual output and sales volume of Great Wall grew from 126 million in 2003 to 2,377 million in 2011, up nearly 18 times.
