Xylem Inc., a global water technology company, has announced Kairus Tarapore will join the company as senior vice president and chief human resources officer. He will lead the development and execution of the com- pany's human resources strat- egy in support of Xylem's business goals and strategic priorities. Tarapore joins Xylem from Babcock & Wilcox Co., a global provider of energy products and serv- ices and a defense contractor, where he most recently served as senior vice presi- dent and chief administrative officer. Grundfos Pumps Corp. has elevated Jonathan Hamp- Adams to the newly created position of managing director for the company's Commercial Building Systems unit. His responsibilities will include leading the sales and production activities of Grundfos' PACO brand, based in Brookshire, Texas. Hamp-Adams joined Grund- fos in 2008 as general man- ager for Grundfos (Pty) Ltd. in South Africa and later served as the company's area managing director of Sub- Saharan Africa. Sandvik Construction has assigned Argico as its new distributor for drill rigs, rock tools, and both stationary and mobile crushing and screen- ing equipment throughout the Dominican Republic. Argico will be supplying a compre- hensive range of Sandvik equipment as well as provid- ing full aftermarket care, spare parts, and customer service. The company has of- fices, workshops, and service engineers throughout the Dominican Republic. Argico serves more than 2000 cus- tomers in the mining and construction industries. Flowserve Corp., a provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, announced a new strategic agreement with United Valve of Houston, Texas, providing factory-authorized repair and service on Edward valves. The scope of the agreement between Flowserve and United Valve includes au- thorized valve repair, valve modification, and other opportunities as directed by Flowserve. The agreement with United Valve, a 54-year- old valve service company, will provide Edward valve customers an outlet for ap- proved valve service work outside of Flowserve's Raleigh, North Carolina, location—specifically in the Gulf Coast area of the United States. Power-Flow Pumps & Systems in Mansfield, Ohio, has launched a new website, www.powerflopumps.com. The website highlights all product categories, has links for warranty/service, sales in- quiries, and links to all speci- fication sheets and technical documentation. It also offers links to all sister companies for its customers to access other products and services. Industry NEWSMAKERS NEW ADDITION BUSINESS GROWTH NEWS ON THE WEB PROMOTION Jonathan Hamp-Adams WWJ September 2015 53 Twitter @WaterWellJournl Scott Orr, pump division manager for Hydro Resources —Rocky Mountain Inc. in Fort Lupton, Colorado, passed away in July. He was 59. Orr served in that position for 35 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid skier on water and snow. His passion for water sports was parlayed into a life-long career in water management. He began working for the Adams City Pump Co. in Commerce City, Colorado. He later joined the fledgling company, AmWest Inc., and worked with his close friend and mentor, John Covert, to build a water man- agement company famous throughout the Midwest and West. AmWest later became part of Hydro Resources. Orr wrote and published many articles on water man- agement and received many awards in his field through the course of his career. He served as a regular columnist for the National Ground Water Association's weekly member e-publication, NGWA Newszine, and wrote on water systems. "He truly was an icon in our industry and certainly no one in Colorado can come close to his level of under- standing and expertise. Cer- tainly, Colorado and our whole industry suffered a great loss with his passing," says Todd Hunter, CWD/PI, owner of Ground Water Pump Systems in Boulder, Colorado, who serves on the NGWA Board of Directors.
