If attendees didn't see it in the D&D exhibits, they definitely saw it at a variety of booths around the show. "Gone are the days of needing to install hinges, headers and closers when you can simply use SureClose, the all-in-one closer and hinge and move on to the next job. "We heard statements like, 'Wow! Sure doesn't look like any hydraulic closer I've ever used' and "This is an incredibly small hinge; I can't believe it can close a gate of this size!'" While SureClose was a popular product at FENCETECH, attendees had an opportunity to preview D&D's new for Spring products, including LokkLatch® Series 3. I am writing to let each of you know, whether you are a member of our association or not, that you are an integral part of our indus- try. We are working hard to bring back the grassroots efforts of this organiza- tion, which has withstood the test of time, as we are currently celebrating our 50th anniversary. The forefathers of the organization set out on a mission to better it, and I promise each of you that during my term, I will do everything in my power to make sure every contractor, manu- facturer, and distributor in our indus- try and related industries feels like their voices are heard and responded to. I am challenging each of you to get involved by encouraging your em- ployees to attend meetings, serve on chapter committees or even get in- volved at the national level. We need to hear your voice in our Barbed & Barbless Wire Livestock, Equine, Wildlife, Pasture and Corral Gates Corral gates, pasture gates, wire-filled gates, utility gates, panel gates and wildlife gates in widths from 4' to 20'. We know there are many associa- tions out there for you to choose to be involved in, but the American Fence Association has developed specific tools and educational programs to in- crease your profitability, professional stature and more. Are you a Certified Fence Profes- sional (CFP)? Did you know we have local exams where only five people sign up? As one of the original CFPs in our organization, I can assure you our CFP certification is being used in competitive organizations to ours, and CFPs have served in court cases as ex- pert witnesses. The certifica- tion programs (in- cluding the Certified Auto- mated Gate Opera- tor Installer program) are gain- ing wide-spread Bob Burton recognition in our industry and be- yond. We are also working steadfastly to bring our Certified Installer program to the chapter and local levels and need your involvement to make this a suc- cess. It's time to make sure you are a current member and a part of our great organization. The American Fence Association is the only organization that was cre- ated by fence contractors for fence contractors, and remains the world leader in representing the fence con- tractor market. I challenge each of you to reach out to our long-term members and find out why they have continued to remain part of this organization and what ben- efits they continue to get out of it. Many of our greatest contractors and suppliers were related to or knew some of the association's forefathers, and I challenge us to become the fore- fathers of tomorrow and bring the American Fence Association to the next level of success for the coming 50 years. I want your input, and can be reached at bobburton@polyvinylc.com or via cell at 727-423-8984 or at my North Carolina office at 888-782- 3362. Robert L.
