58 • SEPTEMBER 2015 • WORLD FENCE NEWS September 1985 Here are some articles and items that were being covered in the Sep- tember 1985 issue of World Fence News, 30 years ago this month. • The cover photo for Septem- ber 1985 pictured Neville Prince of Waitotora, New Zealand, showing the strain of competition during the 1985 New Zealand Wire Industries Golden Pliers Fencing Championship in June. Prince finished third in the contest, which required the country's top fenc- ers to install a goat boundary fence. • Contributing editor Jim Lucci started a series on cash flow, identify- ing the basic categories involved and arranging them to begin an effective financial analysis of your situation. • Wayne Lindquist of North Star Fence in Brentwood, N.Y. showed us his collection of old fence paperwork Through the Years with World Fence News from around the turn of the 20th cen- tury. His collection was reproduced in the issue. • We looked up "tough" in the dictionary and found a picture of Jim Hart. An installation at a juke joint on the wrong side of the tracks required a lot of street smarts and a patient sur- veyor. • When you miss your exit, and smash a fence, who are you going to call? We talked to a student who lived near a hairpin exit ramp in Austin, Texas that is famous for making fence busters out of speeding cars unable to navigate the turn. • WFN contributing editor Herb Borner discussed how improper or lack of field checking and site plan- ning can eat into your profits just like other important installation as- pects and considerations that are not thought out in advance. September 1990 Here are some articles and items that were being covered in the Sep- tember 1990 issue of World Fence News, 25 years ago this month. • The cover photo for September showed a picture of the interior of the Iguanas Showcase Theater and Patio Bar in Tijuana, Mexico and the chain link fencing used to withstand slam dancing and punk rockers and still keep the visibility of the stage intact. The job won the 1989-90 Design Award from the Chain Link Fence Manufacturers Institute.
