AHR E XP O AHR Expo 2012 T The show sets all-time attendance record HE 2012 INTERNATIONAL Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition held in Chicago this past January 23 – 25 was the largest ever AHR Expo, both in terms of exhibit space and in atten- dance. The 82 year old show, sponsored by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Air- Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), featured 1,968 exhibi- tors displaying their products in 429,574 square feet at McCormick Place. This year's show also surpassed the pre- vious record of 38,534 visitors established at the 2008 Show in New York City with a new high of nearly 40,000 registered attendees. In a recent press release, Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Company, which produces and man- ages the AHR Expo, said of the new all-time records, "We hope this is an indi- cation that the economy is on the upswing and will continue to improve." The impressive attendance is just one component of the general optimistic out- look attendees projected for this year. In the ASHRAE's official Show Daily, a sur- vey of exhibitors shows 94 percent rating prospects for business in 2012 as "Good." Eighty eight percent of respondents said the prospects are "Better" this year than in 2011. The most popular area for business this year, according to exhibitor survey respondents, is "Retrofit/Renovation." Many exhibitors have already commented on the show's success and it producing solid leads. Via Twitter, TacoHVAC said: "Thank you to @ahrexpo and @ashraenews for the successful trade show and winter conference. See you in Dallas next year!" The next AHR Expo will be at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas from January 28-30, 2013. 14 MARCH 2012 | FUEL OIL NEWS | www.fueloilnews.com The following are some new products and offerings made public at the AHR Expo show. Four new products have been added to the Fresh Air product line including three Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRV) and one Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV). The Field HRV/ERV line ensures fresh air changes up to eight times a day. Both the HRV, recommended for cooler climates, and the ERV, recommended for hot and humid climates, can be integrated into the ductwork of the forced air system. The Field HRV fea- tures a patented aluminum core that keeps outgoing stale air separate from incoming fresh air while tempering the incoming air, reducing heating and cooling costs. The ERV removes humidity from the air before it enters the home, reducing cooling costs. The ventilator is integrated into the HVAC system with the Healthy Home System Control, which monitors the central fan and manages the fresh air calls on a regular schedule, without regard to whether there is a call for heat or cool.
