CULTURED 81 25 Restoration Hardware presents Rain Room an immersive installation by London-based rAndom International, opening on November 1 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. On loan from the company's collection, the interactive piece will surround visitors with a field of falling water, which shifts along with the museumgoers' movements, so you can leave your rain gear at home. Rain Room isn't the only installation on RH's fall agenda. Dovetailing with the exhibition is the launch of RH Modern, which includes its first RH Modern Gallery in L.A. restorationhardware.com Imagining a world beyond our current smartphone dependence, artist Sean Brian McDonald, in collaboration with art and design producers AUX, has created Devices, a series of 39 handheld, pocket-sized sculptures made from cotton, silk, chiffon, paper, Styrofoam and enamel. The work provides a commentary on society's dependence on and obsession with social media. McDonald was inspired to create the series from his time as a Los Angeles County Museum of Art gallery attendant, where he observed the frequency with which people went to their phones out of habit.
