LAUNCH 12 | Boating Industry | October 2015 www.BoatingIndustry.com HOT SPOTS Cruiser and yacht sales strong in Midwest Sales of cruisers and yachts between 31 and 65 feet are showing significant growth in Midwest- ern cities, according to recent data from Statisti- cal Surveys. These sales include both inboard and sterndrive applications. Sales rose 57.14 percent in Minneapolis in a 12-month rolling period ending in June 2015. Detroit sales followed closely behind at 42.22 percent growth. There were more declines for the category this month, led by Los Angeles at a net negative 12.5 percent and Dover, DE, at a net negative 11.9 percent. BOAT TYPES SEARCHED UNDER 35 FEET RBFF BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOINTS FOUR NEW MEMBERS The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) announced Dale Barnes, Lenora Clark, Jeff Pontius and Col. Joel Wilkinson have been appointed to its board of directors. "Dale, Lenora, Jeff and Joel all represent key opportunities in promoting boating and fishing," said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. "We look forward to their contributions and perspectives in helping us get more people on the water and, in turn, provide more dollars for conservation." NAUTIC GLOBAL GROUP ANNOUNCES SALE PLAN Nautic Global Group – one of the largest boat manufacturers in the country – an- nounced it is taking bids for its boat brands with the goal to close a deal by Sept. 23. Nautic's most successful brand is its Hurricane deck boat brand, which has the larg- est share of that segment. The company also produces several other brands including Rinker, Godfrey, Aqua Patio, Polar Kraft and more. The company has been long-rumored to be for sale and in financial trouble. The sale announcement caps off a tumultuous couple of years for the company. Since 2013, the company has had three CEOs, with Jim Malone now serving in his second stint in that time. Several other executives have left the company in that period as well.
