12 STiR tea & coffee industry international / Issue 5, 2015 (October/November) EQUIPMENT NEWS Goglio's GCAP capsule filling machine Goglio Introduces New Capsule Machines Milan-based Goglio SpA is introducing a new range of capsule filling machines at HOST Milan. These new machines hold the technology and the know-how in packaging process that makes Goglio the unquestioned global leader in the roast and ground coffee sector. Three new modular designs offer production speeds of up to 120, 240, and 360 capsules per minute. These machines are designed to easily and flexibly manage capsules of several different shapes (traditional FAP or capsules compliant with Nespresso and Dolce Gusto). Motorized groups that move with extreme precision to work with the typical "chessboard" layout on the conveyor belt and help reduce the quantity of flexible material needed for capsules lids. Twin augers, connected to a pan feeder, guarantee product homogeneity, essential for high quality capsules. A nitrogen tunnel leads the capsules from the filling station to the lid sealing area. Groups are assembled on tracks to ease maintenance, cleaning and reduce reel changes, simplifying the operator's task for maximum production efficiency. The $200 T.O by Lipton was designed in collabora- tion with Bodum, integrates a Brita water filter and is manufactured by Krups. It uses newly designed single- serve capsules of premium tea that are sold online in packs of 10 for $4.50. The T.O brewing system adjusts temperature settings and variable steep times essential in brewing specialty teas and tisanes. The leaves are visible in a unique brewing chamber where the tea is agitated before it is dis- charged. The capsule then acts as a tea strainer capturing the leaves as the water exits. This brewer makes a cup of tea in 30 seconds. The brewers are manufac- tured in four metallic colors white, red, green, and black. "The disruptive countertop-size innovation in KOLD is like nothing consumers have ever experienced – from the rapid chilling that turns room temperature water to a perfectly chilled drink at the push of a button; to the dispensing technology that produces consistently great tasting beverages; to the pod technology which enables fully carbonated beverages," said Brian Kelley, president and c.e.o. "KOLD delivers game changing, on-demand variety of sparkling or non-carbonated beverages all fresh made with Keurig simplicity." Capsules available in 25 flavors contain syrup, flavoring, and carbonization beads and do not require refrigeration. The system encourages choice and discovery, he said. Kelley is "appreciative of the strong collaboration" of The Coca-Cola Company and Dr Pepper Snapple Group. "The inclusion of their great brands strengthens the appeal," he said.
