78 • APRIL 2012 • WORLD FENCE NEWS Gatekeepers 15th annual training session is one of its most successful Gatekeepers, Inc., a Soddy-Daisy (Chattanooga area), Tenn.-based sys- tems integrator and stocking distribu- tor for a wide array of access control equipment, held its 15th annual train- ing seminar March 1 in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the Chattanoogan Hotel and Convention Center. Company presi- dent Marty Kazmier reported it was one of the most successful in the event's long history. The seminar is a one-day session with the training broken down so there are no more than 40 people per the two classrooms, Kazmier noted. One pres- entation is held in the morning, then it switches to another room after lunch. "This gives us the ability to pro- vide more one-on-one personalized training and to help customers over- come problems that they have experi- enced in the field," he said. "This is a true training and technical seminar, not a sales seminar. But it is helpful for sales reps to know their products' ca- pabilities." Three manufacturers were invited to present their products, Kazmier said. They were: Viking Access Sys- tems and chief engineer Daniel Perez; Linear LLC with Paul Jones, head of technical training and Chris Armstrong regional sales rep; and Diablo Con- trols, Inc., represented by Mike Deckard, national sales manager. Guests were treated to a full breakfast bar which was changed out to snacks throughout the day. A full salad bar, lunch and dessert buffet were offered from the Chattanoogan's 5 star Broad Street Grill restaurant, said Mike Smith general manager of Gatekeepers, Inc. Door prizes included a Viking K-2 slide gate operator, Linear RE-2 tele- phone entry system and many keypads and radio control systems. Diablo Controls offered their new DSP50 probe kit to many companies which attended the seminar at no charge as well as giving away many loop detectors and loop insulation testers, said Smith. "My phone rang off the hook for days by clients who told me that in the 15 years, this was the best seminar that we have pro- vided," Kazmier exclaimed.
