Contributing Editor Laura de Gunzburg shares her cultural roadmap with stops in Dallas, New York, Miami and Los Angeles. "Amanda Hunt recently joined the Studio Museum in Harlem and I'm really looking forward to "A Constellation", her curatorial debut where she juxtaposes work from the permanent collection alongside the work of 18 young artists who have never exhibited at the museum before. The show will run though March 6th." "For an avant-garde L.A. experience, I plan to head over to Algerian conceptual artist Adel Abdessemed's show at Venus Over Los Angeles. His political, religious and emotional commentary is a perfect fit for this new space—which is a bit edgier than its New York counterpart. It runs through December 20th." Abdessemed's Ksu, 2015 "I just visited Italian artist Guiseppe Penone's "Being the River, Repeating the Forest," at the Nasher Sculpture Center. He was such a pioneer of the 1960s Arte Povera movement - it's hard to believe this is his first museum show in the U.S. in more than 30 years. It runs through January 10th." Penone's Indistinti confini - Sapina (Indistinct Boundaries - Sapina), 2012 THE SEASON IN ART "I was introduced to Nari Ward's work by a friend at Lehmann Maupin gallery a few years ago and I found his sculptures visually pleasing at first glance. But what still hooks me is how he uses found objects in a participatory, engaging manner. His work, an examination of issues surrounding race, poverty, consumer culture and Caribbean diaspora identity, is a perfect fit in multicultural Miami, where a solo show at the Pérez Art Museum opens in time for Basel." Ward's Sun Splashed, Artin, 2013 Planck's Untitled (Bio), 2015 "I am fascinated by how Nikholis Planck manages to turn his process into his art. In January, the artist and his friend David Armacost will mount simultaneous solo exhibitions at Rachel Uffner Gallery, where Plank will continue to explore procedures, executions and tendencies in his characteristically self-referential way." Penone's Essere fiume 8 (Being the River 8), 2010
