26 nJanuary 2016n www.thunderpress.net W ell, here's hoping everyone made it home safe through the holidays—I had a great time! Lots of fun with friends—thanks to the Vanyos, Ron and Christine for your excel- lent Christmas party! And to the boys in green up in Van Nuys (you know who you are on the dead-end street) thanks for tak- ing it easy on my sis during her Christmas party, but remember, many people sleep nights… I hit a couple fun runs this past December and ran into lots of folks I haven't seen in awhile. I caught up with my longtime friend Buck "OldSchool" Fries, president of Final Option MC Chapter IV and VP of ABATE 19. Buck was also a found- ing member of PV H.O.G. and ABATE 19. Sorry I missed your sweetie Lois; I haven't seen her in a while, but we'll catch up soon, I'm sure. Thanks for introducing me to some of your Final Option fellow riders—nice meeting you, Angler, Sticks, Lucky, Motown, 3 Ply and Justony. Menace, so sorry you had to leave early and I missed you! I was looking forward to seeing you again!… I also met up with Wooster and his honey Amazon from the Nuggets—saw them at a couple different events… Mel Skaggs—I missed you twice in December, sorry! "WILD" Bill Hartley, I missed you too. But I also got to say "hi ya" to Joni Stallings from PV H.O.G. And Sally "Mrs. Claus" and Ed Cappello—nice running into you. I caught up with Bill "Cherry" Baum and we chatted for a few minutes. Greg Kammerman (another founding member of ABATE 19 and PV H.O.G.—congrats on that new Husque!… Amber Brogdon Peterson, Rhonda Brogden and Jackie Ray, congratulations on your November Las Vegas Rock n Roll Half Marathon… "Honda Ray" Fleischman, nice seeing you both times this past couple months! Anna Chavez, hope this fi nds your car well on its way to recovery—I feel your pain, I kind of screwed mine up in December too… Steve and Paulette Snyder—nice run- ning into you guys too!… Congratulations to Brad Valdez, David Adams and Mike Myers, who kick off the month's birthdays. Happy day to Jen Esqueda and Kelley Cox. Allison Woods (co-owner of Coachella Valley Motorcycle Training), you deserve a special day! Saralyn Delk, Ana Storton (who's working really hard on planning the 20th annual Greek Festival in Palm Springs for February) and Ron Downing, now one of the crew over at Valley V-Twin, hope your day is fun. Amy Broich, who occasionally sends me stuff, has a January birthday, as does Richard Morrow. And the aptly-named January Jeffers also has a birthday. Happiest of birthdays to Jeff Kuhns and also to Jackie Oppenheimer; hope you're both planning a fun day. The CREW's Anna Chavez celebrates on January 9. Bobbie Mars-White and Frank Waldrop share the same birthday and my friend Paul Wilson's the very next day on January 14. Helen White and Charity Privett both have January birthdays too. Hank Hallmark is having a birthday at the end of the month, so I hope it's a good one, Hank! My trike-riding friend Suzie Nellis has a January birthday, too; hope it fi nds you somewhere warm, dear! And happy birthday to one of my fi rst girlfriends in motorcycling, Janie Gott, who is a January 1 baby! The CREW's Richard Hestlow is also one of my favorites, and he too has a birthday this month… The Crestline landmark, Cliff Herrington's Rim Sports Bar, burned last month. So much of Cliff's history was lost with it; his photos and memorabilia. They were able to save a couple of the bikes, but Evil Knievel's Sportster that graced the mantle was chained down and there wasn't enough time to get it out. Cliff, I'm so sorry for the loss!… Birthday girl Allison Woods and Dave Woods celebrate their 3rd anniversary on the 3rd… Hope this fi nds Steve Broughton well on his way to recovery after his recent surgery… Birthday girl Jackie Oppenheimer, along with her husband Chris, have opened their second CJ's Stir it Up Mongolian Grill! This one is on Jackson Street in Indio. Be prepared to experience a food coma after chowing down at their all-you-can-eat buf- fet… That's it for me this month. Hope you all fi nd some great January riding. Stay out of the rain and snow (unless you're like and me and love the rain). See you all next month. Until then, enjoy your ride!
