Bloodworth was promoted to CME sales manager in 1997 and held this position until his retirement. In-Situ Inc. donated two of their Rugged TROLL 100 Data Loggers and two Rugged BaroTROLL Data Loggers to HydroSolutions for a water project in Uganda. One of the In-Situ Rugged TROLL 100 trans- ducers was installed in the Moroto West well in northern Uganda. The water level and water tempera- ture data from this transducer will give informa- tion on the groundwater re- sponse to the annual wet and dry seasons, and will also re- veal the times and amount of daily use of the well by the community. CHARITY Former National Ground Water Associa- tion Suppliers Division Board member Richard Arlan Haderer, cofounder of Western Hydro Corp. in Hayward, California, passed away late last year. He was 65. Haderer cofounded Western Hydro with his brother Paul in 1977. Richard participated in the growth of the West's premier wholesale company serving the supply needs of pro- fessional water well drilling and pumping contractors while the business expanded to 22 warehouse locations serving eight west- ern states and Mexico. He served for 12 years on the NGWA Suppliers Division Board and was later nominated president of the division. Haderer was appointed president and chief financial officer at Western Hydro in 2005. He cele- brated his 38th year with Western Hydro in June. Richard was drafted out of high school in Millbrae, California, by the Kansas City Royals baseball team but elected to attend and graduate from the University of Oregon on a baseball scholarship. He began his ca- reer in banking with the Bank of America in San Francisco, California. By Haderer's own admission he truly "espoused and lived the American dream." Ditch Witch announced the company's founder and industry icon Ed Malzahn passed away in December. He was 94. Malzahn changed the way the world's utility infra- structure is installed and maintained when he launched the first service line trencher, the Ditch Witch model DWP, in 1949 from a small machine shop in Oklahoma. That small shop grew to become Ditch Witch, a Charles Machine Works company, which today employs more than 1500 workers and has more than 175 dealerships and branches serving 195 coun- tries. The company has produced and sold more than half of the world's trenching ma- chines. IN MEMORIAM Twitter @WaterWellJournl WWJ February 2016 49
