Highway across Lake Michigan offers relaxing shortcut
WHEN THE LAKE EXPRESSmade its maiden voyage on June 1, 2004, it literally opened a new way to travel from Michigan to Wisconsin. Today, in its ninth season, the relaxing high-speed crossing has been the preferred route for hundreds of thousands of leisure and business travelers.
For Harley-Davidson riders or families in minivans, the two and a half hour trip is a unique experi- ence. And more than 97% of all passengers say they will take the Lake Express again and will rec- ommend it to friends.
The Lake Express experience is more than simply time saving:
- It's a unique way to travel, the only high-speed auto ferry operating in the continental U.S.
- It's a relaxing alternative to seemingly endless road construction, especially in the Chicago metropolitan area.
- It's a "green" alternative, recognized by Travel Green Wisconsin for practicing and promoting environmentally friendly business practices.
For leisure travelers, the Lake Express provides an opportunity to enjoy
the fresh lake air, take vacation pictures to e-mail to friends or relax and enjoy the amenities of the passenger lounge. Travelers can enjoy a movie, read, chat with friends or make new acquain- tances. Business travelers are provided the workspace to make the most of their time on board and a courteous staff to provide all the assistance they require.
In 2011, travelers from 38 countries and all 50 states took the Lake Express. Many come to our home city of Milwaukee to enjoy the many events and attractions throughout Wisconsin or continue farther west after giving the driver two and a half hours away from the wheel.
Today, the Lake Express remains as committed to providing an excellent travel experience as it was on that first trip across Lake Michigan. The confidence passengers show in the Lake Express is both gratifying and challenging. We remain committed to providing the highest level of service.
